PBIS Supports Students with Disabilities

PBIS implementation with high fidelity across all three tiers in a small, high-needs district improved the rates of inclusion (greater than 80% in general education classrooms) from below the nationwide inclusion rate to almost 10% above the nationwide rates. In addition, there was a decreasing rate of office discipline referrals across the school year in one school, from a high of 170 per month in October to a low of 6 in April. Both the fidelity of school-wide and classwide PBIS were found to be strong contributors to these outcomes.
