PDF: This series of evaluation briefs explores the relationship between (a) school climate (as measured by the Brief School Climate Survey for elementary and secondary students), (b) student-level demographics, and (c) PBIS Fidelity (as measured by the Tiered Fidelity Inventory (TFI). All briefs in this series include the same introductory information about the importance of school climate and details of the school climate survey. PDF: The School Climate Survey Suite is a set of four multidimensional surveys to measure student, teacher, administrator, faculty, and family perceptions of school climate: elementary, middle/high, school personnel, and family. The surveys are brief, reliable, and valid for assessing perceived school climate among students in Grades 3-12. Teams can use each survey separately or in combination to assess perceptions. Each survey includes a set of demographic questions about the participant and a number of questions related to school climate with Likert-scale response option.

Rural settings have a variety of unique challenges that can make accessibility to resources challenging but also have strengths that can be utilized. Learning environments that support the social, emotional and behavioral needs for all students and adults have been shown to positively impact outcomes regardless of setting. Multi-tiered behavioral frameworks, such as PBIS, have been successfully implemented in rural schools, helping to promote a positive school climate and better student outcomes. This webinar will review some of the lessons learned in implementing PBIS in rural settings, explore strengths, and describe the adaptations needed for improved PBIS implementation.
